Well, I have started my first major sewing project. I was finally inspired
by, you guessed it, a Halloween costume. This year I am going to be Strawberry
Shortcake
and Mike is going to be the Purple
Pieman
. I’m going to have my hands full with just my costume so Mike
is on his own. Luckily for him, he can just buy most of the parts of his costume.

So far, all I have managed to do is cut out the pattern. For that, I still
needed an in-person consultation with my sister and several phone calls as well.
Yikes! It may be hard to imagine but a nurses’ uniform in red with a lengthened
skirt (simplicity
pattern 8851)
, an apron (McCall's
2947)
, and an improvised poofy hat, are going to come together to create
the SSC ensemble. The only flaw is the short sleeves, but I think I'll be grateful
for them when the time comes.

Does anyone know where I can get green & white striped tights?

What inspires me at nearly 30 to sew my own Halloween costume? A party of course.
Not just any party but a yearly tradition of outrageous costumes and homebrewed
beer. I can’t deny that Mike, who is just as much a kid at heart as I
am, is a big factor too.

Hehe… The Purple Pieman!
