My First Dolls
So, instead of working hard on presents for Mike's family, I've been distracted by these little guys. One for my niece, Mara and one for my almost-nephew, Grant. I've been trotting around the house this weekend calling them (the dolls) the kids. As in..
"Mike, I need to take a picture of the kids before it gets dark, could you find the camera."
He didn't bat an eye.

Oh Sew Cute
Anyway, I am about 85% complete on my new creation. A Wee Wonderfuls Olive doll. As soon as she is done, I'll post pictures. I figure that I am going to have to make quite a few of these little guys. Enough for each of the munchkins I love - and one of each for me too.
The down side of this latest project is that is doesn't really help on the Christmas front. Mike's family doesn't really have anyone of the right age to appreciate an Olive and Archie doll. I keep telling myself that I am just honing my crafting skills so whatever I do make for them will be that much better.
Oh and I made a cute little bag too. I'll post pictures sooner or later.

Crafty Me
The weather is cooling down and fall is on its way. For some reason this time of year inspires me to sit down at the sewing machine and create stuff. OK..the weather and the realization that Christmas is not all that far off. At least not when your (in-law) family has decided to have a all homemade present Christmas.
In my family, homemade presents mean badly painted pet rocks and strangely shaped potholders (except for one noteable Aunt who can make anything and then win an award for it.) But in Mike's family things are a little different. His mom can knit, quilt, weave, paint, and weld. His sister in-law, well she can create gorgeous gifts, raise two kids, and find time to be an engineer...
I am so out of my league.
I spent a lot of time yesterday looking through craft ideas and here are a few of the websites that stand out as the best. I think many of them are going to be addictions. I find myself most drawn the most to the dolls and toys. There is something about their personality and imperfections that appeals to me. I've been quilting for a while and I am not going to give up on that but it takes me a long time to finish anything and I certainly won't be able to complete one for each person in the family by Christmas.
